I live in the northeast, so I don't want to be cleaning up corn husk and frozen pumpkins in the cold of November.

I always like to put different color mums out in their pots and arrange the color so it looks pretty. You can also add a small bale of hay which they sell at craft stores.

I live in the Northeast too so I know what you mean about November, everything sounds like a good idea when it's 70 degrees out then the weather turns sooo cold on you!

For a while here where I live people liked to put up a sign that said "Happy Fall, Y'all" with the standard leaves/hay/pumpkins. Which does nothing for me! But what I wanted to tell you was that a grouchy woman I worked with wanted to display her own version of this sign: "F___ y'all, its fall!"

Go on a hike and collect some tall grasses. Truss them together, hanging them upside down. Get a fall bow (you can buy them ready-made at a craft shop) and attach. Hang on front door.
