When that character played by William Atherton first had a restrainging order against Holly(McClain's wife) and not only did that damn female flight attendant find pleasure in hearing about what happened when Holly told her, but Holly uses that stungun on him, but the part that pisses me off the most is that he never got back at her and that Holly was a damn *****.

She hits him in the first Die Hard and then zaps him in the second and he never even got back at her.

WTF??? That pissed me off.
Watching that in the movie made me so, so mad.

A so-called reporter like he is did deserve to be punched and zapped! His interview of her children put her in danger, and the bad guys could hold her as a threat to John! Besides, didn't you catch him threatening the lady who was watching the children? That was nasty!

I usually don't like such violent acts, but reporters too often pursue stories too far in real life. So, it's nice to see one being bounced around a bit. Remember: He said, "Tell me you got that!" when she punched him. For this guy, the story is the ONLY thing that matters. I worked at a city newspaper for 10 years, and I saw way too much of that behavior.

Besides, William Atherton has been the bad guy quite a bit: Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Die Hard, and Die Hard 2. He sort of epitomizes the uptight, redtape-bound official, someone people like to see hoisted on his own petard, so to speak. Atherton also played the double-dealing, smarmy professor in Real Genius.

It's strange to think that he received a good share of attention in Sugarland Express, in which he and Goldie Hawn play a couple on the run who are trying to regain custody of their child. As the young man who escapes from prison, he actually had the audience's sympathy in this one.

He deserved it. He was too nosey and even endangered the McClaine family
