I recently had a class discussion on suicide rates. My teacher said most suiciders are in upper or upper middle class. She said that poor people don't have time to think about suiciding since they're always fighting to survive. I found this interesting and a little humorous. Give me your point of view on the topic. Most well argued one gets 10 points. Thank you for answering. Have an awesome day. (:

Ennui is the curse of the idle rich. It is a nice word, French in origin, defined in the American Heritage to be "Listlessness and dissatisfaction resulting from lack of interest; boredom." Purposelessness. If everything you ever wanted was given to you with little effort, if you never had to save up for anything, sooner or later even those things cease to have value for you. We all treasure the small things we worked hard to get, and the sentiments attached to the gifts that our friends and relative presented to us. Companionship cannot be bought. In a more profound sense than many realize, adversity builds character. And it is character that is the armor against the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune".

Maybe the thing of it is, poor people have to work for what they get, while the rich (middle class) and wealthy have things handed to them, thus being of little value. When things are of value, they are important; thus, you take care of them.
That is why it is important to have friends with poor people; they are the real McCoy.
