Im not too famiiar with whats happening there, but I read Bills son does not care about hockey what so ever. So if Rocky is Bills son, I doubt you will see any change in the hawks.

I think Peter has been running the club for some time so shouldn't the question be "Will Rocky be any different from Peter?"

Rocky wrote that the family has had a succession plan in place created by his grandfather, Arthur Wirtz.

In his memo, Rocky Wirtz said that the Blackhawks are "in good hands under the guidance of General Manager Dale Tallon.''

But a spokesman for the Wirtz Corp. said that Rocky plans to do a thorough assessment of the team. Whether or not that means major changes is unclear.

"With Rocky taking over as chairman of the Hawks, he is going to proceed now as if he just bought the team,'' the spokesman said. "He will assess the organization from top to bottom to see what needs to be done to make this a championship team. He had a good meeting with the general manager Dale Tallon today.

"He believes the organization is in good hands, but clearly the team needs to perform better and Rocky is focused on that."

Changes "could" be coming, it "might" seem.

I knew Rockwell had a controlling interest in the team, and Pete was doing almost all of the non-hockey business, like concessions.
I am afraid that the hawks will be just a hobby for him, just like it was for bill. He will do what's best for him, not the team.
The only changes might be that he gets his own people in there, cronyism.

I did not know RKhawkfan was here!
(for those who don't go to the hawks site, he's the blowhard who "talks" to upper management on impending deals! :)

Highly unlikely.

I have to admit that yesterday's news came as a shock to me. I had lunch with Peter on Sunday and he gave no indication of any changes.

Bill instilled the same values into all his children and employees. One of the highlights on the weekend was Chelios' speech. Real moving. People tend to forget that Chelios graduated with honours from Wisconsin (or maybe I was the only one that forgot)

Bob,
I met him several times in the 70s and 80s through Pierre Pilote (Pierre owned Timmies franchises in Milton, Ontario and Georgetown, Ontario). We're not friends, nor would I recognize him if I saw him on the street. One of the first times I met him I kidded him about Tim trying to hawk franchises to retiring players. Ron looked at me with a scowl and informed me that at one one point in time, 50% of franchises (at that time) had been owned at one time by an ex-NHLer.

Don't really know. Has it changed yet for Chicago fans? Are they going to broadcast more than 10 home games for the fans?
