Ok I was reading the Christian version of "The Secret" and after reading a few pages I got deeply disturbed about something. This author was saying that nothing is destined to happen and it is what we do that attracts good or bad stuff. That if you judge you'll be judge, if you are sweet people will be sweet to you, if you're mean and so on.

Well what about people who get murdered and raped? What about that woman who got raped and killed at red lobster?! How is that her fault?! How did she attract that predator? I highly doubt she was wearing revealing clothes! What about an infant who's victim to some perverted crime? What about a girl who's extremely modest(both physically and personality wise) goes on this date and gets raped because she doesn't know anything about sex and noone told her about what guys say and act when they want it?

That it's their fault?! Is this what this so called Christian is saying? more to come......

Is this Christian saying that the infant PURPOSELY attracted the molestor? The red lobster woman wanted to be raped and murdered? The sweet and naive girl wanted to be raped? THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!!!!!!!!!! Can someone explain?!

If it is so then how can people NOT attract abusers and killers? Please someone explain I am so deeply disturbed that I doubt I'll be able to sleep at night.

But one more thing. What if you fear getting raped or killed and you got raped and killed? Did you attract that? How?

I reposted this in another category to get more answers and ideas

So many "Christain ideas" make no sense. Example, everything happens for a reason- not true. What is the reason for murder, child abuse, child molestation, torture, rape, disease the list is endless.Oh that's right we will fing this out at the ends of days. But in the meantime who takes cofort from"everything happens for a reason" when their child is kidnapped, raped and buried alive. Another- God only gives you as much as you can handle. Then explain drug use, alcoholism, psychiatrists, depression, medication, suicide.

If a woman walked out her door naked it gives NO ONE the right to rape her. When a child makes a mess it gives NO ONE the right to beat them. When some one does something wrong or hurtful to another, it gives NO ONE the right to kill them.

One shouldn't waste time in finding explanations to this and that ,as that would be stupid way to discern, differentiate or discriminate. It would be wiser to have a rational attitude towards all things in life and as and when we come across any such issue, let it be examined by our rationality and accepted or rejected on the spot.Religions have never been anywhere near rationality and should be treated as such.

Just like any humanistic view...not all people agree. Christian or not. The fact this was printed in a 'christian' version does not mean they were basing their view on christian beliefs or representitive of Christ.
