I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC Laptop and suddenly my volume disappeared meaning I can't hear anything. AND NO it's not on mute. I tryed doing a system restore and installing things from the HP website but nothing helps. I just noticed though that on control panel it says there's not Sound card installed. I don't even know what a sound card is, when I bought the laptop I didn't have to install anything for the sound. Is there a way I can install the Sound card even though I don't know what it is.

Sorry I'm not good with computers.

Don't worry, the soundcard is still there. Windows could not find it because the driver is gone. Install the driver. If your laptop would not accept the installation, try turning off all your startups first in msconfig.

Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, ok. Select startup tab, disable all, apply, ok. Computer will restart. Install the sound card driver. After a successful installation, enable your startups again in msconfig.

The problem can be easily diagnosed
The major cause of the problem is that the sound card driver is corrupted
try installing the driver of the sound card with the cd/dvd given along with the laptop.....
else mail me to shanth_thecool@yahoo.co.in
i will tell alternate method to solve this problem, if i could

or just mail to HP regarding this problem,
