I love to profess my self proclaimed intelligence when I am right but unlike some (Don Cherry is a good example), I can admit when I am wrong.
I have said that there was absolutely no way that Carey Price would be with the Habs this year. Did not think there was a chance that management would have the guy in the NHL to play 25 games as a back-up. Not their style but there he is, on the Habs roster. Might be a temporary thing still but it seems I may have been wrong.
Another is saying that the Oilers will really stink. I may still be wrong but after watching their game last night, I saw alot of positives. Sam Gagner has REALLY acclimated well for such a youngster, surprisingly well. Ales Hemsky has some of the sickest moves in the league. If Roloson plays over his head and the D helps him out, they might do OK, atleast if watching one game is any indication.

Yea Bob, I would also like to thank you for telling 288 that Carey Price wouldn't make the NHL this year. (snicker)

When I find the link on here where I predicted that he would make the club, take the starting job 20 games in, and eventually win the Calder, I will post it. Stage one is complete. lol

I am wrong so damn often that I prefer to concentrate on the few times that I am right. Grapes and I swim in the same river, Denial.

LOL - I'll admit I'm surprised Price started the season in Montreal but I have maintained all along that he would be with the big club before this season ended. I may have indulged in nostalgic fantasy in predicting he would pull a Ken Dryden and the Habs would win the cup but I do write fiction as a hobby.
As far as Gagner goes, the Oilers HAD to keep him. Quite frankly he was head and shoulders above the rest in the Super Series and he came to camp 4 weeks ahead of everyone else in terms of his game conditioning. The fact he and Hemsky went nuts together in the intersquad game convinced me he was going to stay. They may yet send him back to Junior if it looks like he's out of place but if he keeps going the way he has, he will be one of the reasons the Oil fans show up at the Rexall Centre.
I'll admit I'm wrong about some other players when they prove it to me. And I'll also admit I'm harsh on Europeans. I have a Canadian bias. I think we play the game best and I know from experience that europeans don't all adjust to life here or the NHL game which is dramatically different than it's European counterpart. If any player I dish proves me wrong he will get my very vocal approval but you earn my respect by playing the game well not by shipping me press clipping and scouting reports.

Sure I can admit I'm wrong, but I haven't really made any far-out predictions for this season, except for the Devils missing the playoffs, and they are 0-1, btw. I was always saying how the Oilers were going to be a tough team to play, that they would spoil a lot of teams' seasons. I never said they would suck, but I still don't think they can make the playoffs. As for Carey Price, I was absolutely amazed at how he beat out Halak for #2, I think Halak is a better goalie. I only hope the Avs somehow trade for him.

Two seasons ago, I predicted the Penguins would win the Stanley Cup. They had just signed a bevy of free agents (Jocelyn Thibault, Ziggy Palffy, Sergei Gonchar, Mark Recchi, John LeClair), drafted and signed Sidney Crosby, and had a supposedly healthy Mario Lemieux ready to end his career with a bang. Instead, the Pens were blown out by New Jersey and things went downhill from there. Thibault was injured, LeClair (and to a lesser extent Gonchar) stunk, Palffy and Lemieux unexpectantly retired at midseason, the coach was fired, and the kids were being called up in droves. Needless to say, I was wrong on my Penguin hopes that 2005-06 season. Ever since a little thing called maturity became a staple in my personality a few years ago, I can readily admit to being wrong on a number of things. (Note to guys: whatever the situation, your woman is always right. I know all about it!)

Awesome Bill, correct predictions, and sports go together like the Three Stooges.

I'm so used to it that being right feels alien when it does happen that I'm correct about any teams or players performance.

You're alright in my book Blahblahblah, it takes spine to admit when we have been incorrect about anything.

Takes a big person to admit they are wrong...can't always be right and be flawless all the time. I think we all appreciate your insight though.

I can admit when I'm wrong. It's no big deal.

At this rate I'm never getting married either, so I don't have to worry about being wrong. What? I'm going to argue w/myself? lol

Yeah, Bob, thanks for telling me that Price wouldn't play at our fantasy draft. Get the fantasy sports virgin to drop a good player. lol
