I tend to agree with missc, but the color is usually tan/pink/orange. If it is a bristleworm, it's only a problem if you touch it - the "legs" are stiff hairs that really hurt!

In case it's some other type, these links will help you identify it (and probably several other things you'll find that have hitch-hiked in on the rocks): http://home2.pacific.net.ph/~sweetyummy42/hitchhikers.html - click on the individual photos to open the link to that section

Wow. That is super gross.

If I were to guess, I'd guess it is from the "mushrooms" you bought for the tank...where did you get them? What do you mean mushrooms? If they had dirt on the bottom, it is likely that the worm is some dirt-dwelling thing. It will likely die soon if it is not used to the water.

Maybe you could get a fish that would eat it?

general questions first:
how big is tank?
how long has it been set up?
did you cycle it before adding marine plants?
do you have fish in it?
do you test water?
what are water readings?i.e. ammonia?nitrite?nitrate?ph?

Next:
is it one worm?
how big?
is it moving?
where did you get your mushroom?ever bought from there b4?

more than likely its a worm that helps eat bacteria in your tank, you'll probally get more.I dont know how they develop exactly, but in healthy tanks ,they do develop

It is a bristle worm and it is a good worm. They are scavengers and will help keep your tank clean. They can hitchhike in to your tank in rock and corals.
As your tank ages you will see more bristle worms and little worms in your sand. These are all good and help clean your tank.
