I've had a mammogram and it wasn't anywheres near as bad as I was anticipating it to be...all those horror stories just aren't true.

As for a colonoscopy, I didn't need one when I thought I might but at least I discussed it with my doctor which was embarrassing enough.

I have them both too. It's the only smart way to go..and you're doing a good thing by reminding us.And just to add a note..mammograms might be a bit uncomfortable..but not bad..and colonoscopies do NOT hurt!!!

I am 54. Due to family history, I get colonoscopies. I started out every year, then went to 3 years, and now every 5 years. I am due my next mamo in December. I agree with you. Please, please people get those exams. My dad left me at age 53 due to colon cancer. It is so sad to think I have lived longer than he did. He has missed my three wonderful sons and fantastic husband.

I had to get on every year for awhile. I had a polyp that they biopsied every year for 3 yrs and finally they removed it. Don't ask me why, they just did it that way.
