Actually I was in two bands...both of them were all girl bands. My main group was called (get this) the Misty Blush. We were a 5 piece group and we played rock and roll and country. We wore matching polyester spangley pants suits and white boots. I played the keyboard and rhythm guitar in this group. The other group was a trio called Music Unlimited. We played the countryclub set and did standards, easy listening and dance music. We wore black and white outfits. I played the electric bass and sang backup vocals in this group. I still do a solo gig at my assisted living place once or twice a month....turn the library in "The Blue Note" lounge and do standards and jazz stuff on the elec. keyboard with vocals...and, of course, the ever-popular sing-a-long with a twist....Karaoke.....thanks for helping me remember a great time in my life......

I didn't join a band, but my sister, cousins and I used to put on 'shows' for our folks and sing our hearts out-good or not. lol My brother played drums and guitar and he was in a band for many years. They played at a lot of different places around our area.

Actually, I was the vocalist with two bands in high school. Oh, those were the days of school functions and house parties. One group even got an invitation to submit a tape to a record label. I coulda been a millionaire! Yeah, right!

I played acoustic guitar in a small band. We performed for weddings, bar mitzvahs and the like. This was a band which played swing music and some jazz.

My husband started and played in Ukiah in upstate New York. Also played in Tower. He plays all types of stringed instruments, drums and keyboard...writes his own music and records his own stuff.
Now me.....I was just the happy groopie. LOL Never had the itch to perform.

Yes I did, it was probably one of the best times I can remember because we were in "demand". I played an accordion back then (probably one of the few females that did), and we would play weddings and special occasions. We used to watch Sunday morning television and there was a show that was filmed on Saturday evening that they replayed the next day, right after church. It was Alvin Styczynski and his band, and we would try our best to be just like them. We could play a pretty good polka, and word got out that we were really having fun doing it. Suddenly, we were going to Oshkosh, Appleton, Wausau, Menasha, and the bigger cities. We just had lots of fun and enjoyed our music. I get a little misty eyed when I here a good Beer Barrel Polka now days!

Yup! But it wasn't musical although we did make sweet music on occasion.
Figure that one out.

I really, really wanted to be a rock star. I was taking piano lessons at school. At home I practiced on this cardboard keyboard. My mother thought (brilliantly) that we needed a baby grand piano. So she went out and bought one. I was totally thrilled and practiced, just like the teacher said, for an hour a day. On day 3, my mother canceled the piano lessons, I guess it is called "torture" if you can only play the key of "C".for an hour at a time
Since my parents were musically inclined (I must have been found in the cabbage patch) my dad played the piano, as my sister did, he also played the zither and guitar, mom, on the drums. Due to my ENORMOUS talent, I played the triangle.
I had hoped that the Beatles or other groups would recruit me, apparently there is not a high demand for triangle players.
I would have considered singing, however, I heard that mass mutilation against a groups ear drums is a felony
So ended my dreams of becoming a rock star........
