In the Declaration of Independence it is written, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." This guiding principle, which clearly proclaims the importance of human rights, lay the foundation for our way of life in a democracy.

Yes, it is written in the Declaration of Independence & the Constitution spells it out for us. These two pieces were written in the 1700's & they left out anything about women & their rights. None of those who wrote both of those two very important works; freed their slaves, did not do away with indentured servents, did not want to open up the rest of the country for settlement by those who did not have the money to buy land from them, except by the price they set, which was too much for most of the poor. We are much closer today to living up to those two documents than we were when they were written! Simply because most of us believe in what they wrote & have used it as a guide in forming our country as it is today. Perhaps, this is not quite the answer you expected to your question & maybe I'm all wet in my reply but, the answer may be something in between what I'm thinking & your asking?

Your research is incomplete. The US constitution does NOT create a democracy. We have (had) a REPUBLIC. In a democracy, legislators are NOT elected. The people ARE the legislature. In most cases, democracies DON'T respect individual rights. The majority truly DOES rule and the minority has no rights.

The Declaration of Independence is not our Constitution.

Two separate documents, but both important in the history of the United States of America.

democracy is not defined be American concepts or the American declaration of Independence. Democracy is far older than that. nor does it need respect for all human beings it just needs people to vote

That concept is incongruous with the evidence you present. While a nice idea, it is not specifically dealt with in the declaration of independance.
