This is the classic "break it all down, combine, isolate x" kind of equation.

First, break it down by multiplying all the terms on both sides.
4(2x+1) = 8x+4
3(2x-5) = 6x-15
So now you have

8x+4=27+6x-15

Second, isolate x. Add -6x to both sides
8x-6x+4=27-15, or 2x+4=12.
Add -4 to both sides
2x=12-4, 2x=8

Solve for x by dividing both sides by 2
x=4

Check in the original equation to make sure it is correct.
Both sides of the equation =36, so it works.

8x + 4 = 27+ 6x -15
8x + 4 = 12 + 6x
8x = 8 + 6x
2x = 8
x = 4

HEy, we all need help in math!

Well we can always simplify.

First we can distribute:
8x + 4= 6x - 15

See, I distrubuted the four to the nubers in the parenthesis and the three to the parenthesis by multiplying

Now we need to get x alone so we can subtract 6x on both sides to get x alone. Our answer would then be 2x + 4 = -15

Now subtract 4 on both sides to get 2x alone. Rember whatever we do to one side we do to the other. So now our equation looks like 2x= -19. Now we divide on both sides to get a grand answer of x=9.5

Easy enough for you?
