I bought this computer in a flea market but it's password protected I dont have the password, is there a way I could reset it it's a compact presario running xp pro, please help

Reboot into safe mode, choose the administrator user ID, by default, there is no password on it.

Set up your accounts from there.

If youre locked out of Windows itself removing the CMOS battery will do nothing. You would have to either get the password or reinstall Windows.

Look for the CMOS setting pin (usually numbered 1-2-3), example, if it sets to 1-2, then transfer the pin to 2-3 and reboot (to reset the CMOS)...turn it off, go back to original setting of pin (1-2) and turn on.

If that doesn't work, remove the CMOS battery and leave it out for a few days. Then replace it and try again.

CMOS doesn't have to be left out that long...but good answer.
