oh god, yes. It was terrible. I was chosen once for a murder. He turned out to be not guilty and I wasted more than 10 days on the case.

I think that the jury duty fairy follows me.
I lived in one state where you were on standby for a month. You called every Sunday to see if your number came up and if it did, you went to the courthouse and maybe you'd be on a jury. I was summoned 1 year and about 2 years later summoned again. I served on so many trials I can't even remember how many it was.
I moved to another and since I've lived here I've been summoned 3 times. Thank goodness Chicago only makes you do 1 day but you may have to travel far. I got summoned to go down to 26th and California which is the criminal court. It was brutal. I've never served on a jury here though. I also had to go out to Rolling Meadows and Downtown Chicago.

funny you should ask this tonight.....was just talking about jury duty with some friends
I have been called many times for jury duty but I have never served on a jury....
I have been on a panel a few times and then excused by one of the attorneys....
the closest I have been to being on a jury...Is that i was on a panel was asked some questions then they went on to someone else we went to lunch and when we came back the judge said that the case was settled and we could go back to the waiting room.....

* Yes I have been on a jury! Once the case was dismissed and in the murder trial we had a hung jury!

got called and excused. I personally knew one of the prosecution witnesses which would lead to a bias. Both lawyers immediately dismissed me.
