As a black woman, i totally disagree with affirmative action. I honestly (and i am speaking for myself) do not feel that i have been treated any differently than anyone else, that's not to say that it does not happen. But i would personally feel insulted if a got a position or into school, etc based on affirmative action only. So yes i agree with you: Affirmative Action is a crock of u know what!

Affirmative Action WAS needed when it was created. Minorities had to fight twice as hard to get half as far in life. They had to fight just to use a water fountain, bathroom, seat on the bus, etc. Because of generations growing up learning minorities were second class citizens, they were treated as such. When affirmative action was implemented, it forced society to accept minorities in places they never were before, i.e. universities.
Generations later, I think affirmative action is used as a crutch. We all know that we are all created equal, and should be treated as such. Only ignorant people react with prejudice in these times, and the ignorant do not run society. (I realize that can be debated...) Affirmative action is now used to reach "quotas." And Caucasians will be the minority in many states soon. What will happen then? Will we have to force society to hire white people? Let them into state funded schools?
Life would be so much better for all if everyone was based on their merits and accomplishments than their skin color.

It is funny, but before the civil rights laws, Universities like Harvard had quotas in the medical and law schools. No more than 10 percent of any class could be Jewish.
My father use to tell me about traveling and my dad, as a boy, sent to look on the door of a resort to see if it said, "Christian only".

Since a bunch of Englishmen threw a tantrum and decided to come to a new land, kill off and throw out the original inhabitants (who incidentally show them how to raise crops, hunt for food and etc.). Then they bought and brought over Africans slaves (in overcrowded cargo ships like sardines) to build the country for them for free...okay, they got table scraps and a roof over their shacks. Someone in government (I don't quite remember who at the moment) felt guilty about all this "crapola" as you say and decided to give those who had been so supremely mistreated a chance to "sorta" catch up.
I guess you'd have to be one of the oppressed to fully understand and appreciate a concept like affirmation action. Could this be the reason why so many don't believe the Holocaust actually happened? They're in denial or just can't accept and understand it?

Affirmative Active was a good program to force segregation way way back in the 60's. The program has run its course and now it is program that is designed to purposely discriminate.

Good question. If I was black I would be offended that the govt thinks that I need help to get jobs or get into school. Isn't that what affirmitive action says? That black folks are too stupid and or lazy to do it themselves and need help? I don't think it is true, but that is what AA says to me.
