It has seemed to regress over the past eight years. I don't recall it being this tense even back in the civil rights marches days. Another legacy of George Bush's presidency.

As far as what is happening in Jena. a bunch of wise @ss teenagers carrying things too far.
But I can understand the nooses thing from an incident I had going through there one night.

I was following a lady and she had a tail light out. So I politely told her over the radio "Maam You Have a tail light out," Ouch you'd thought I had started World War III. just by talking to her because I was not from there. By the way I'm redheaded. Not that it made any difference it was dark and I was up in the cab of an 18 wheeler.
Finally got tired of listing to his and his friends mouthing about blowinge me away, kicking my @ss and a few other things. Told him he had better turn around and take a good look at what I was driving.
Then told him I'd crush their @sses like bugs and swear I thought I'd just hit another of those famous Louisiana potholes.
I got back to the plant I told them no way. If they could not get in touch with one of our drivers the line was just going to stay down until they could.a hold of a driver.

This is part of the human DNA and will never change.
Why do you think there are all these wars evrywhere.
Look back in history then look in todays and tomorrows newspapers. Things will never change until there's no one left. Nothings just black or white. Its all the inbetween everyone sees.

No amount of education programmes and careful censorship of the media will alter the fact that race groups are uneasy together.

Human nature is tribal.
