I work in a call center but our company is making us work our stat holiday but we never signed anything legally binding us to work the holiday. they are saying if we don't work we don't get paid. I am under the understanding that as long as I work full shift before and after they legally have to pay us is this true??? any help would be appreciated thanks

I asked a supervisor today he said we have never signed anything legally when we signed on to our company but due to the Canadian holiday they need people to work the holiday so they made everyone work. This is the first time they made people work the stat holidays. I know all other vacations we had to sign saying our choice ie- work reg shift take lew day, work regular shift with double time and half, not work shift and be paid reg time. This time we had no options. I know the new training classes are signing waivers to work stst holidays but when I was hired they didn't exist. I feel I am legally entitled. I am just not going to work on thanksgiving monday and I am working full shift tues if I don't get pd Im going to labour board wednesday.

Depends on company policy. Companies don't have to pay holiday pay. Usually there's a written company policy which spells out which holidays you get off with pay.

If I read the website linked below correctly, your can be required to work on the holiday if the call center qualifies as a "continuous operation". If that is correct, you don't get holiday pay if you don't work that day.
