i have heard that its true and that it is also a myth, i give my bearded dragon water that drips into a dish and i also mist him with water from time to time, i do notice the water rolling down his head and he sticks his tongue out to drink it. but is it true that they also absorb the water into their skin rather than drinking it? i also give him fresh greens every day as well as feeding him crickets. thanks for your answers!!!

Nope, dragons don't get water through their skin.

It's important to mist them occasionally because it keeps their skin comfortable. Like lotion for people, only they don't need as much. They're desert dwellers, they like it on the dry side.

Some dragons won't drink from a dish, so the mist/humidity in the tank, as well as food, is all the water they get.

Not through the skin, but through their vents. The vent is the opening where they urinate and defecate. Many reptiles are "vent drinkers" and can absorb quite a bit of water this way. It is important to mist your dragon daily (they will drink the water that runs off their faces), and a good weekly soak for an adult (more often for babies) in warm water for 20 minutes will help with shedding and encourage them to defecate. It also helps with dehydration. In the wild they have many more opportunities to drink, and many will drink or soak in watering holes. They are not true desert creatures--many live in forest scrub land. They do get moisture from their food, so make sure their salads are misted and their insects have a source of moisture from a water bowl (for crix) or fresh fruits and vegies. Some will drink from a bowl, and I always leave a little bowl in one corner of the tank just in case.

For ninety% of bearded dragon vendors, a water dish is a ought to! I rescue bearded dragons and that i'm no longer able to enable you to recognize the point of dehydration I even have seen. It disgusts me. human beings ignore or get distracted or lose song of whilst they final bathed them (and that they in all probability shouldn't very own those animals yet they do and that they study those boards) and it relatively is life threatening and reasons them to additionally replace into anorexic whilst they're dehydrated. That being suggested, I even have never had any bearded dragon have respiration themes from having a water bowl available in case you have the right tank setup, lights (UVA & UVB) and visual demonstrate unit the humidity ranges. i for my section use powersun bulbs and that they shop it lots dry mutually as nonetheless permitting me to maintain a water dish in with the beardie. i myself would possibly never propose leaving the water out till you're taking your reptiles great heavily and visual demonstrate unit them heavily. I even have seen too plenty injury performed from human beings no longer which includes a water bowl regrettably :/

No, not through the skin but through their nostrils.
