I would think he deserved it and I'd be afraid that I'd be probably sent to prison even though I was just defending myself or my family.

I would be glad I did something worthwhile for society. I'm sure I would be in some kind of trouble though, it's usually the law-abiding, tax paying individual that really loses in these situations.
