-4(2x - 3) = -8x + 5
-8x +12 = -8x +5
this gives the same x value on both sides with different unlike terms
-8x +12 can not be equal to -8x +5 unless x in an UNREAL (or imaginiany) number

First distribute:

-4(2x) -(-4)(3) = -8x +5
-8x +12 = -8x +5

Add 8x to both sides:
-8x +8x +12 = -8x +8x +5
12 = 5

Since this is not true, there is no solution.

distribute the 4. you get -8x + 12 = -8x + 5. then subtract 12. you get -8x = -8x - 7. add 8x. the answer is 0= -7, which is no solution

-on expanding you get

-8x + 12 = -8x + 5 Which is not possible as 12 does not equal 5

Is the question correct?

The problem does not make sense.

-4(2x - 3/2.4) = -8x + 5

or

-4(2x - 3) = -8x + 12
