Does anyone know of a veterans or WWII statue in Minneapolis? My grandfather mentioned to us that he posed for a statue that was placed there. Please reply if you require further details on theis matter.

There is no statue of a WWII soldier here in Minneapolis, not in my poor memory anyway....the first person who answered your question is referring to the groundbreaking of a new WWII memorial in front of the Capitol in St. Paul. There won't be any statue included in that park, however: it's made up of glass panels with the names of veterans etched in.

However, your grandfather's statue might be standing in Rochester, MN. where they have a Soldiers' Field Memorial. There is a bronze statue of a WWII infantryman standing at the entrance.

The guy is really handsome, BTW.
