The tradition is for the father to sit at the head of the table and we do observe that. In a way it's my only opportunity to play king-in-his-castle. Anywhere other than the dinner table and I'm obviously the equivilant of a constitutional monarch with largely ceremonial functions. Essentially,my wife is the Prime Minister. So I'll cling to what little I have left,and my position at the head of the table is a vestige of 19th century male authority I refuse to relinquish.

yeah thats so true,everybody bags a spot hey...and its weird if someone changes or you have a different guest and it wacks out the dynamics...
