In order of preferences...
1. Fit....I have a very small foot and the heel always comes up above my ankle if I don't get the right size.
2. Elastic quality...not too tight...but defiantly not saggy....hate that.
3. Cotton to polyester ratio...must be soft and smooth on my foot. no rough seems..no cattywompus seams...no enlarged knots of threads at either end of seam.
4. Color...no white socks with brown shoes...no navy socks with black shoes....
BTW....you have made me realize that I am obsessing way to much over socks...thanx for adding to my list of OCD tendencies...LOL

Durability. I need socks with reinforced heels because I always take my shoes off in the house. People who go in their stocking feet a lot need quality socks.

I don't. I buy lots of socks all the same color so when one gets lost there's always one that matches.

Well, when I go sock shopping I usually take my 'Sock-Criteria-Checklist' to make sure it fits all my requirements, such as perfect comfort, fir, color, stretchiness, texture...sometimes salespeople think it's strange...

grass and bindis as my boys run around and take the shoes off,and leave them inside out to be washed,so i have to look in the sock,incase of lil nastys.....

Not too tight and thick enough that they won't have holes in them after a few months. I prefer the crew cut.

never mind. what i look for in a sock is the letters 'L' and 'R' sewn in by my auld mum. woe betide if yer caught goin oot wi two 'L's' or 'R's'.

warm socks and durable not those thin one's that hve hole in them after 3 minutes of use a nice warm sock that is slippery so that i can slide! ;) wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
