This is a wild stab, but are you referring to the items that appear through auto complete? In other words, if you type the letter 'a' in your address bar, it brings up all the searchs taht 'you performed that started with the letter 'a'.

If that is your problem, then open Internet Explorer

Tools

Internet Options

Click the 'Content' tab at the top

Click on the 'Settings' button for auto complete

Uncheck whatever you don't want it to remember...

If you are referring to the normal history etc, then the previous answers were dead on the money.

Do exactly as spywaredr suggets, then to complete the cure:

1) Download and install Firefox from Mozilla at www.mozilla.org.

2) Uninstall IE7.

3) If you absolutely must use IE, then download IE6 from Microsoft and save a copy of the download file in case you decide to get brave/foolish and install IE7 again. Eventually Mircosoft will stop making the IE6 download available, so it will good to have a clean copy.

4) Download and install WinPatrol Free at http://www.winpatrol.com/ It will prevent unauthorized changes to IE.

Use Firefox as your browser!!!!

If you are typing in the address field and it is still recognizing websites.. this feature is called AutoComplete

It gets turned off in a different spot.
Tools >> Internet Options >> Content >> autocomplete> settings...

Good luck
