For Star Trek fans?

When Star Trek Nemesis first was in the works, the original plan was:

Picard and crew are on leave and have returned back to the planet from the last movie where Picard and the woman discuss their future.

Riker has his own ship (not sure if the original plan had him part of the story line or not)

Most of the rest of the story was the same

but and to me this would have been better

there was no "B4" droid of data

When the enemy ship damages the enterprise so badely, Data has everyone evactuate the ship and he takes it in on a suicide run, saving humanity and the rest of the crew.

However they changed that wehre there was a new Data.


Which would have been better?

Some of the plot listed above sounds better. The movie had good special effects, however the plot really really sucked! As being a big star trek fan i'm getting more ticked off every time Paramount launches a new movie and the plot sucks (as what i've seen in Star Trek XI out in '08)

It is never a question of which would have been better, but which draft. # 1-3 at least will never be done. Then it is up to which actor gets the best light or scenes. I wonder if sometimes a writer doesn't make a script he likes, then a few others with something he hates in each and hand them in first. When everyone has torn them apart into shreds, he then presents what he wanted in the first place, complaining how hard he had to work all the way.
