Its one thing to cheat and quite another to keep on lying about it under oath.

Personally I would be willing to forgive her (and the many others like her, Floyd Landis included - sorry Floyd but the evidence speaks against you) if they would simply admit they made a mistake. We all make mistakes in life, and they are only compounded by denying them.

Personally I would have more respect for her (and the many others like her) if they would voluntarily give up their medals and admit that it was wrong to cheat. Furthermore, I think that the athletes themselves would be better off; as winning at big competitions is nice but self-esteem is way more important.

Furthermore we're all partly to blame because we put so much emphasis on winning with stupid slogans like: 'if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough'. Aren't we?

Your thoughts?

Why can't record books be amended?

Why can't you go back and give the medal to a second (or third) place finisher? Even if it doesn't get the attention that it would otherwise it could still be an important symbolic gesture.

Please don't drag the Clinton's into this sports debate, as far as I know neither Clinton ever participated in high level athletics. Thats a whole other ball of wax. (perhaps even more sticky and tangled than the sports debate)

Yep, I think she should. Personally, I'd have a lot more respect for somebody who admitted they were wrong and made a mistake.

I agree with you, the olympics is for sport to be played on a even basis, no drugs never, they should hand their medals back and admit that they did the wrong thing

Well, Pete Rose lost his right to the "Hall of Fame"
Why should this not apply likewise in the same way?
For that matter, why shouldn't OJ lose all his "fame and everything he got and gained?.....instead, seems he just gets more and more famous. The man makes me (and others )simply sick! Famous Jeff Ruby here in Cincinnati who owns restaraunts etc , called the cops and had him kicked out a couple months back when he came in struttin his stuff.....I say, Good for him!!!

She admitted to it, and lied previously...thats what gets my goat! Same with President Clinton and his *******. UGH! And why should his wife be President ? We dont need examples like this representing to our children that this stuff is OK in AMERICA!!!! what is wrong with USA indeed!?

I'm with you, she should give the medals back. But what do you do with the history and record books? It's not like you can award them to the second place winner. Did she use steroids also? No one bothered to continue to check them because they didn't win. Overall, it's really ashamed:(

What are the medals worth? Does she get paid for having them. I'd give them back - who cares they aren't worth much anyway. I think that if you do drugs and don't get caught then you should be OK. Just think if your boss found out that you smoked pot 10 years ago and wanted to fire you.
