At what age does a boy begin to ejaculate with masturbation? I really do not want my son to have the 'scare' some people do the first time ejaculate is present. I would like to inform him of the possibility when he gets near that age. (If her were a girl I would speak about a period around 8 because that would give her a year to get used to the idea & starting @ 9 is common in my family - but I have no experience with this). I do not know why I'm asking here before speaking to my husband because it's probably genetic too. But I'd like to hear from others who've been there.

Boys start puberty later than girls. The average for ejaculation is around 12, but I was an early bloomer, and started at 10, for example, others until they're 14.
Keep in mind that at some school, they may have puberty classes. At my school (in 4th or 5th grade) we had a puberty class, in which the boys went with a male teacher and the girls with a female teacher. They really did a great job at teaching us everything about puberty (not sex). This was at a public California elementary school. Later in high school (freshman / 9th grade) we had the sex / STD classes.
And if your boy is anything like I was; he won't be scared. Wet dreams don't happen to all boys, especially if they discover masturbation (from hearing from friends, as I did at around 10/11). That's because wet dreams happen to release excess/old sperm, but if masturbation happens (almost all teens masturbate eventually), there won't be old/excess sperm.

You are to be commended for thinking of this. I had my first ejaculation at 12 and it was a surprise if not scary. I had no idea that anything shot from the penis. I started masturbating at 10 and had been having orgasms for two years, that too was a scary thing to have happen, but how do you talk with a 10 year old about that if they haven't discovered masturbation yet? I started puberty at 10, and could ejaculate at 11. I think I was a bit of an early bloomer though. Most guys tend to ejaculate around 12-13.
It's nice to see a responsible parent.

There is no "right" age. Every boy matures at his own pace. Some won't ejaculate until they're 16 and others can spurt at age 12 (rare). ANSWER: You'll probably start before your 14th birthday. Most boys do. Happy growing.
