If you see a penny on the ground do you pick it up? What about a nickel; a dime; a quarter? Is lost change worth picking up to you?

Darn. I know that we make cents. I've even made the distinction when answering other people's posts. The bad habit's starting to wear of on me!

Yes, I do! Over the years I have been somewhat lucky, I have found a 1944 D over S cent in a parking lot. Have no idea why someone would toss away 1940's silver nickels but a few years ago I found 3 or 4 on the ground at a gas station. they were not in that bad of shape (grade) either. A lot of people just leave them but I have made out real well and in the end they do add up. I have found a few dimes and quarters but not many and one half dollar. I would say that from a dime up they were dropped by mistake not throw aside. As for cents costing more th make than there value that is true only when you add in labor shipping and the like. One has to remember it is now against the law to melt cents or nickels and there are export restrictions on them as well. Don't try to leave the country with a bad of cents unless you want a jail cell for a while.

Yes I will pick up that penny. Pick up save the pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. The dollars will take care of themselves.

I only pick up nickels, dimes and quarters. If I'm lucky to find cash, I'd pick that up too.
I hate pennies. I give them to my younger cousins. Or just leave them on the ground, for someone else to pick up.

I've picked up many supposedly 'lucky' pennies. Can't say that any of them seemed to nring me luck. In any case, any luck that might come my way I tend to attribute to being self made, rather than by pennies.

It costs three cents to make and distribute a penny. So yes I pick them up because it's worth four cents.

Do not save change at home spend it as fast as you can, over time there will be a significant economic effect.

If it's not raining, if there's not a traffic hazard, sure!

People will *pay* a spa so they can go exercise and then not do the bit of exercise to pick up a coin or a bit of basically clean litter.

"Penny" has never been USA currency ... USA has cents! (sense! :-) The "colonies" had pennies as currency.

It's worth it for the *exercise, if for no other reason.

Always. My mother did it to me. I think is is an Irish thing.
Find a penny, pick it up and put it away, have good luck the rest of the day. My luck isn't the best, but I have a boat load pennies that I have put away...somewhere.
