I am currently 6wks. pregnant (or was) and my dr. said that since i'm still bleeding and my HCG tests are getting lower, chances are that i already miscarried, but on sunday when i went into the er the dr. told me that there was a baby present and the heart beat was present, and suddenly thurs. she told me i had "most likely miscarried". I've had two perfect pregnancies in the past, could anybody tell me if theres chances i may still be pregnant???

if your hcg levels are getting lower and lower, you ARE miscarrying. i'm sorry about this.

at your next ultrasound, the doctor will be able to tell you if there is proper growth and if the heartbeat is sustaining, but with dropping hcg levels, there is very little chance for this pregnancy.

your levels are supposed to rise 66% every 48 hours.

If there's a heartbeat, you have not miscarried. I am (WAS) 7 weeks along and am right now miscarrying. :-( The ultrasound showed a 4 week amniotic sac, not a 7 week, so the baby stopped growing at 4 weeks. At that point there was no heart formed yet, so of course no hearbeat showed up. I have also had 2 perfect pregnancies. Are you still bleeding? How heavy? If it's light bleeding try not to worry but be prepared for the worst. The bleeding is your body's natural way of getting rid of foreign things in the body, and a fetus without a heartbeat is just that. If the heart is still beating I don't think you're miscarrying. Keep your doctor informed. Good luck to you.

I'm sorry but if your hCG levels are lowering then you are miscarrying. I had a miscarriage with my last pregnancy. I had some spotting at 9 weeks for 24 hours. I went to the doctor and he ordered some blood tests to check hCG levels over the next 6 days. First one was 54,000, 2 days later it was 45,000 and 2 days after that it was 28,000. I ended up having a D & C. At 6 weeks your hCG levels should be doubling every 3 to 4 days not lowering. Have another u/s just to be sure.

With hormones dropping thats a sign of miscarriage it's showing that the placenta is no longer producing the hormones needed to support a pregnancy. The one thing I would question is if you were pregnant with twins? If you had twins and lost one your hormone levels will drop and you will bleed and have a miscarriage of the one while the second can still be viable and continue on through the pregnancy.
Insist on a high level ultrasound done at the hospital instead of just a clinic machine since the hospital has a stronger imaging ultrasound machine. Don't let them pressure you into any procedure you aren't ready to deal with.

Bleeding can occur before the miscarriage actually happens. I had had 3 early miscarriages before having my son and I always had my numbers drop. Have your doctor do another ultra sound just to make sure.
Just wanted to add that when I had my 3 miscarriages I NEVER had cramping, only the bleeding.
Actually, 6 weeks is not too early to hear the heartbeat. I heard and saw my son's heartbeat at 6 1/2 weeks on ultra sound.

o% that u didn't miscarry at this point in pg they should be doubleing every 2 days. u can't hear a heartbeat at this point in pg. there could still be products of conception left in the uterus seen on ultrasound, that may require a D&C to stop the bleeding. ER docs r not speialized in OB and r really out of their element talk to your OB. sorry to hear of your loss.

The fact that you bleeding and the levels are dropping is really not a good sign. Im sorry . You will have to follow docs advise and go hospital if bleeding gets worse or any cramps. I niscarried in january and it was like one day all was fine and the next day i miscarried. I hope all works out.

Well i think your best place to start would be geting a second oppinion, your Dr seems very confused about whats going on. ! minute your miscarrying next its fine then your miscarrying again?
I had 3 bleeds in early pregnancy at 8w 9w 10w but everything was fine and im now 27w, i would think if your HGC levels are going down then maybe you are miscarrying. But for your own peice of mind get a second oppinion.
Good Luck

every pregnancy is different so even if you have had to perfect pregnancys in the past you are in the same boat as anyone that hasnt had a child! remember tho that if you do have a miscarriage that it just means the cells were never right to begin with so there was never a baby there in the first place, just some cells that have gone wrong. sorry but it dos not sound good does it. good luck. and when i had my miscarrage i didnt even know it had happend so they do not have to hurt

A miscarriage even as early as 6 weeks can be very painful, so I doubt that it has happened yet. But if your levels are dropping and you are bleeding it is most likely inevitable.
