Yes ma'am..it sure could have. Bleach (ammonia) is a powerful irritant, which is why it is such an effective 'cleaner.' However, using it full strength, or even diluted, with out adequate ventilation can indeed not only give you headaches, but irritate your lungs as well. Please do not add any other types of soaps or detergent to bleach (check the label) because the reaction can actually cause an affect that we know as 'mustard gas.' Despite it's efficiency at cleaning and decontaminating, bleach is a dangerous chemical when used improperly.
Air out the area, get yourself into fresh air. A couple ASA or acetaminophen may help, but time and fresh air will be the cure. Of course, if it's really bad..grab hold of a short circuit and then you won't worry about the headache..(I'm kidding folks..it's an inside joke!)

Chemical fumes on all sorts can have nasty effects on you. Bleach could definitely be the cause of your headache.
Take a couple aspirin or acetominophen, or something with ginger in it (... very good for headaches), and go out and get some fresh air for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Take a long, slow, deep breath, hold it for a slow count of four, then breathe out as much as possible. Repeat. Do this for at least 8-10 breaths. You want to get as many fumes as possible out of your lungs. You can do this while you are relaxing, or while you are walking. Before you head outside, open windows, if possible, and ventilate the area where you used the bleach.
Good luck. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Yes very easily! I like to clean with bleach also, and I will put my t-shirt over my face so I don't breathe them in. I never get headaches but after going to the pain doctor today I got on of those busting headaches after my epidural. It's never happened in the 5 yrs I've been getting them! I will pray for you because it was pure hell. I'm sorry. I once mixed dishwashing liquid and bleach and almost passed out so don't EVER do that!

I get the same thing when I clean with straight bleach, but when I dilute it in water it doesn't bother me. Take some tylonal and put a cold wet washrag on your head, make sure the lights in the room are out and it should go away in a bit. Make sure not to eat cheese or chocolate it will make it worse. feel better hun

It definitely could have. That stuff gives me a headache every time. Can't stand it.
You know what makes a good general cleaner? A small bit of laundry soap, a small bit of ammonia and quite a bit of water. good stuff and no bleach headache.

yep it's the fumes.
it happens to me all the time, you can't help it.
just keep the windows open to allow a breeze to sweep through the house, and get some air yourself and take some headache pills.
it'll go away eventually.

Unless you get them a lot. Go out and get some fresh air and most definitely air out your house to clear the smell.
