It scares Republicans to death to talk REAL issues so, alas, they can only make personal attacks and call names. How low they have come from the proud party they once were.

I think the criticism has more to do with John Edwards not having the cajones to take the hard stands in his own name, but rather sending in his wife to deflect the bullets. Think about it...If it's controversial, John doesn't say anything, but all of sudden his wife is making the rounds of the talk shows to tell us what John REALLY thinks about the subject. That gives him "plausible deniability" if there is any hoopla over the statements.

I happen to like the woman. Could care less about what conservs want. (and I'm not a democrat). She has the right to say whatever she wants. The conservs are acting like a bunch of wusses to let a woman get under their skin.
shush conservs!

Shes taking hits, because of what she says while campaigning for her husband.
Not because she is campaigning for her husband.
Just look at her comments about Rush Limbaughs draft deferments.
She didn't mention her own husbands draft deferments.
When you enter the political arena, you should expect to be critised.
That comes with the territory.

I think she is wonderful! To go out on the campaign trail with her children & in poor health is to be admired, so I do admire her! Not all Republicans stoop so low, most running for office do not even mention her but, they too must admire her!

You're funny. It's the Dems who invented the politics of personal destruction.

elizabeth edwards is out there firing shots of her own. she is fair game. you can't let her say anything she wants to say and then say nobody can say anything back to her. are you suggesting she's "off limits" because she's a woman or something? if she didn't want anything negative said about her, she should have just stayed out of it.

Hard to believe, isn't it?
I think they're just used to seeing plastic Stepford wife first ladies like Laura Bush. A strong woman speaking her mind does not compute!

Edwards carefully avoids tough interviews, and hides behind his wife knowing that if she's attacked, they can call Republicans insensitive, since she's dying from incurable cancer.

I'm not sure if you are referring to a specific criticism...if so, please enlighten me.
I certainly expect spouses to support and campaign for their spouse who is running..
But, certainly I also expect people to take issue with opposing ideas, and ideals.
I don't think anyone objects to her right to support...just object to WHAT she is supporting.
