Any craft ideas for elderly? My mother visits the nursing home every Saturday and does crafts with the elderly. She has ran out of ideas and would like some suggestions. Please remember that they cannot use their hands that well or work with really small objects. We only are allowed to be there for an hour and a half, so something that doesn't take a lot of time.

What kind of money are you looking at. Straw hat decorating. Different sized Straw hats are wonderful for the women. The flowers can be glued to the ribbon, then tied around the brim. If glue is not good for the group, use a styrofoam form insert, and have the flowers stuck into the hat and styrofoam.

There are a lot of ways to adapt to the abilities of the hands.

Clay is good for the hands to work with. Even play do.
Painting planter pots, wreath decorating, cake decorating, it can be a cardboard "cake." flower arranging, Card making with rubber stamps, quilt block cutting, soap stone carving. Christmas is coming up, so making Christmas gifts for the youth, and their children is good, like making bath salts-(1 cup soda baking and 1 quart Epsom salts, with essential oils and food coloring in a pretty jar.) Silhouettes, shadow boxes, a hundred things. Paper heart chains, children chains, paper chains, with decorated paper... Finger painting, salt painting, bottle painting, coin and stamp collecting,

I am writing a book on crafts. Look up crafts in the library.
People get paid good money to do this at nursing homes. You can play music from their era as you do these crafts. Get as many senses stimulated as you can.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/WoodworkingTechniques
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

You are probably tired of looking through stacks and stacks of projects on woodworking in magazines and books of all kinds for some instructions on how to do a certain project. Here is a site which offers 16000 plans https://tr.im/GuideToWoodworking
How would you like to have woodworking plans (actually thousands of them) available to you anytime you wanted them. It would be so easy when you do not have to paw through all kinds of old magazines but have it right there at your fingertips.

Decorating straw hats with flowers and feathers:have them pick things they think represent them or represent some event they remember fondly, or have them make them for each other, and take pictures with them on.

They can make book marks: cut some rectangle, round, or, square pieces out of card stock and let them decorate them with drawings or words for book marks. Laminate or cover with wide tape to make them last.

They have bird house kits, where you can paint and decorate the houses. That would be fun too.

These are 2 sites I've used. Some ideas might not work for seniors, but many do. Search for ones you might find appropriate for your seniors.
