YES! They can come back and they will. This team is set out for the World Series, consider this a mini-replica of the regular season -- cubs sucked the first part and turned it on after the break. The cubs are down 0-2, they know what they need to get it done. Hill will throw a gem today and Zambrano and Lilly will make the dbacks pay. Cubs fan --- BELIEVE

They play the games for a reason!

Could the 2004 Red Sox come back from 0-3?

Many teams have come back from 0-2. They have two at Wrigley now. Many series over the years have had teams winning the first two at home, then losing two or more on the road.

Again, they play the games for a reason. It doesn't look good for the Cubs right now, but all kinds of crazy things happen in 5-game sets. The only thing that WON'T surprise you is that surprises keep happening.

First, Sox fan, if the Cubs were in the AL Central they would have still finished ahead of your sorry team. Don't forget the Cubs took 5 of 6 from the Sox this year!

Second, a Cardinals fan giving some praise to the Cubs?!?!?! Maybe not all Cardinals fans are the bad people we thought they were. And you alone have put Cardinals fans ahead of Sox fans in the class department. Congrats!

And finally, of course it could happen. Winning 3 games in a row while facing elimination to win the series has happened against the Cubs and to other teams who aren't associated with any curse or other foolishness:

2004 ALCS Red Sox over Yankees (Sox won 4 in a row)
2003 NLCS Marlins over Cubs
2003 ALDS Red Sox over A's
2001 ALDS Yankees over A's
1999 ALDS Red Sox over Indians
1996 NLCS Braves over Cardinals
1995 ALDS Mariners over Yankees
1986 ALCS Red Sox over Angels
1985 World Series Royals over Cardinals
1985 ALCS Royals over Blue Jays
1984 NLCS Padres over Cubs
1982 ALCS Brewers over Angels
1981 NLDS Dodgers over Astros
1979 World Series Pirates over Orioles

I'll stop right there, but as you can see it has happened 14 times in the last 30 years, including 7 times in the last 12 years (the Wild Card era). So can it happen, of course. Will it happen, I hope so............but probably not.

re: Jordan
Are you kidding me? I have been to many baseball stadiums and I don't think I've ever seen the home team give a standing O to the visiting team when they hit a home run. Unless it was for some kind of record or milestone, I highly doubt that happens in St. Louis or anywhere for that matter. On the other hand, I have seen fans in stadiums not named Wrigley Field throw home runs back on the field. And it wouldn't shock me if it's happened in St. Louis too! And in case you didn't notice Cardinals fans, you appear as the victim just as often as the Cubs on the list above!

Yes they can. Do u remember the 04 playoffs when the red sox 0-3 came back and beat the yankees? The Cubbies have a shot. The last time they were in the WS was 1945...

Anything's possible, but we are talking about the Cubs, aren't we? Looks like they are taking their October plunge again.
Be strong, Cub fans, be strong. For next year marks your 100 year anniversary since your last Championship. How sad a professional major league team cant win the Title in a century's worth of baseball.
Maybe you'll have A-Rod next year and he will lead the Cubbies to glory.

I think they can win the next 2 at home against Fatty Livan and Slugger Owings. But then the Serious comes back to Phoenix and they'll have to face Webb again.

It's gonna be tough. Maybe next year at the 100 year mark?

They could. It helps that they are going back home to good fans so that could help them to win, and that would give them some momentum. Just depends if their bats can come alive and if they can pitch well enough.

Edit: For the record sportsguru, they are playing home tomorrow, they were away the last two games. That can make a difference.

Seriously, it's the Cubs. Not likely.

Yes, they're in Chicago tomorrow and when they win they will only be one game down. When they win on Sunday the series will be even and the momentum will shift in their favor and they will have the confidence and poise that they need to return to Phoenix and finish things off.

Keep hope alive!

No, they still have the goat curse and down 0-2 says you are going home.
