The Knuckle ball is thrown with the fingers curled on top of the ball. Velocity is a matter of arm strength. The idea is to keep the ball from spinning. As it appoaches the hitter it can do some strange movements. Similar to a "palmball"
The slider is a fast curveball. The ball is held with the fingers aligned with the seams. The delivery requires strong back spin. This causes the ball to appear to the batter to be heading down the middle. It will "break" near the plate and move to the left or right depending on the throwing arm.
The curveball is thrown with the fingers across the seams like a fastball. The pitcher rotates his wrist on delivery and the ball follows a curving trajectory to the plate. Check this link out.

A common misconception about a knuckleball is that it shouldn't spin at all. It is best if a knuckleball spins about 1-1/2 times on the way to the plate.
