Bosses sometimes fire employees that don't work out right for them. People who cook outdoors fire a grill up. Campers create a fire to cook and keep warm at night, and to scare off wild life. Campers also fire a latern at night. On 4th of July and New Years Eve people fire up firecrackers and fireworks for display and celebration. Smokers fire a cigarette, cigar or pipe. Blow torches need to be fired too.

I myself was fired last November, but my colleagues rallied around me. I then fired my own legal advisor, and was reinstated in March.
