She has pain under her left rib cage and it hurts more when she laughs. It feels better if she lays on her side. It started lower and towards the back but now is under her left rib cage. any suggestions???

Gas can also get caught around the ribcage (have had it happen to me). Also, if one coughs a lot like with a cold it can bruise or break ribs. The only way to know for sure what is going on is to have her see her doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.

She could have bruised or cracked a rib. Or bruised or strained a muscle there. Or something else. I hope she goes to her Doctor.

Diverticulosis can cause pain in the lower left abdomen that can radiate up. It usually occurs in older people.

OMG I HAD THE EXACT PROBLEMS/ SIPTONS AND I HAD APENDISITICE. ITS WHEN THIS ORGAN CALLED THE APENDICTS ERUPTS AND YOU CAN DIE FROM IT. get her to go see a GOOD doctor because if it explodes she could die!!!!! I almost did and holy S**T was it painful and i did the same thing.........laid on my stomach and i also curled up and rolled around a lot and i was only in grade 6 so make her go see a DOCTOR and FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She should probably go to the doctor or get an xray becasue there could be something in there that is causeing the problem/.

If I were you take your mom to the doctor and have them to check with her pain and depend on her age.
