I always thought jaywalking was when a person starts to cross the road and stops, turns round and goes back to where they came from rather than walking over to the other side. But it would seem I am wrong as I have just read the wikipedia definition and it is to cross a road without due regard for the traffic.
Definitely nothing to do with kerb-crawling as far as I'm aware!

Jaywalking is a term used to describe when a pedestrian crosses the street without regard to traffic statutes. In common use, the term generally refers to someone crossing a major street outside a designated crosswalk or intersection in jurisdictions where this is illegal.

Um, I don't know what kerbcrawling is. But jaywalking is walking across a road (usually 4 lane) without a crosswalk and not looking.

What's kerbcrawling? Lol. Jaywalking is basically crossing the street without a crosswalk and/or stoplight.
