i was using it to find an interesection in a graph and it came up???
it's a TI 83 PLUS

Usually this will mean that your two curves don't intersect.

It could also mean that the intersection point is on the other side of a discontinuity from where you guessed.

For example, if you have the graphs: y=2 and y=1/x,
you know the intersection is at x=1/2
but if you guess a point near, say, -1, then that error will come up. This is because -1, or any negative number, is on the other side of the vertical asymptote in 1/x from the point x=1/2

Zoom out, then try again. The graphs have to meet in the viewing window for the calculator to find the intersection.

I don't know much about the graphing calculators, but:

1. Is there a battery or any kind?

2. Is it getting enough "light" to power up?

3. Clear everything and start over.
