I have my own theory. I've noticed that the underdogs (like right now, Rockies, D-Backs) have to work harder to get to the World Series, so they play better, like the Cardinals last year. But teams like the Yankees, who go to the playoffs almost every year, are great in the regular season, but then in the postseason, they don't have to work as hard to get to the top so they don't try as hard, therefore, not making it. This doesn't happen all the time, but, it makes sense to me.

Looks like the Yankees just don't have the stamina the last couple of years. By the time the end of the season and the playoffs roll around, it seems like they are very winded, huffing and puffing.
