Yes, it's not as big a deal as it sounds, a nurse is usually standing right there and she wisks it away immediately, you probably won't even know if you are doing it and in the heat of the moment, you won't care. It still sucks though. My husband and I laugh about it now.

I doubt that *most* women do but it can certainly happen if fecal matter is low in the bowels at the time she is pushing out the baby. She wouldn't even realize it if it does happen because childbirth feels like pooping.

I never experienced this with my kids and neither did my friends nor my sister but a lot of women think about that when they're pregnant. The medical staff has seen it all so they won't be surprised. ;)

If she poops while still in labor then her bowels will likely be empty when it comes time to push out the baby. I'm assuming she poops about once a day.

I think I had enough poop talk for today. LOL

Yes it is but it does not always happen. I did not at least as far as I know anyway but trust me that will be the last thing on your mind or hers once you see what they are going to do to her. Not to freak you out or anything Good luck and try reading what to expect when your expecting and becoming more than a dad are all good ones.

I didn't, because when you don't have medications you're able to direct your pushes, and pushing a baby is not the same as pushing poop. This might sound funny, but poop pushing is from the back, and pushing a baby out is more from the front.

Yes. When a woman is pushing out the baby she has to push like she's having a bowel movement to get the baby out. So, if there is any poop in there (and there almost always is) then chances are...... ya know.

No biggie.

It is true, but it depends on the woman.

If a woman is sedated during labor, she doesn't really feel her muscles below her waste, so when she's pushing the baby out, she may also be pushing on her intestines (as you do when u have a bile movement).

That was my biggest fear! I kept trying to go before they gave me the epidural so that I wouldn't go while pushing. I ended up not going for about 2 more days and not while giving birth!

yes it is..in my case, i didnt poop..i guess i was lucky..(well i was in labor for 17 hrs..so i didnt eat for 17 hrs...) it's because when we "push" the baby out, it's like pushing when ur having a bowel movement...so it's natural for women to poop while giving birth...

I didn't poop, but it only took me 2 pushes to get my son out so maybe that was the reason why I didn't poop? Who knows I was just so happy I didn't haha.

What?!? No, that's not true. It's not unheard of, it happens, but it's not most women. With everything else going on though, I heard no one really cares. There's tons of blood, and placenta, and baby to worry about.
