Triumph Herald 13/60?

Question

I have triumph herald 13/60 I fitted a alternator, when i turn it over the cooling fan turns anti clock wise some how I got it into my head it just be turning clock wise is my engine turning the wrong way? I cant start it yet?

could be, you could have gotten the positive and negative wires crossed some how. Not likely though beside a starter motor is a series DC motor. And like any DC motor when you reverse both the armature and field winding leads the motor will still run the same direction.

Well i served my appretiship on rover triumph and had my own garage specialising in the same.How old is the car,as unless its had a kenlow conversion,its fixed.And if its inertia,they work on the fact you can hold them still,and sometimes look like there going the wrong way Its only as the fluid gets warmer does the fan begin to work at engine speed.The only other thing i can say is was it dynamo and you have converted to alternator,or was it neg or pos earth change over which did result in things like heater motor going in reverse

Your engine turns clockwise it was the triumph Acclaim that turned anticlockwise.On a 13/60 the fan was fixed i agree with previous writer that its probably got a Kenlow conversion

The engine is turning the correct way.and obviously so is the fan.it draws the cold air through the radiator to cool the water in it.its probably not starting due to some other fault.keep trying.
