In a nutshell, NAFTA creates an avenue for more illegals to get into the United States with great ease. It also is environmentally unacceptable because it allows foreign trucks from Mexico and Canada, which are not required to be as smog-minimal as trucks in the United States, to enter the United States. Lastly, it gives now internal jobs to foreign country workers and promotes further outsourcing. This is the side I'm on.

On the other hand, supporters of NAFTA focus mainly on the economical benefits if it and that it allows the transport of North American goods to be done at a reduced cost compared to air shipments and Cargo-ing. Furthermore, it establishes an avenue for better and easier international business relations.

NAFTA has been great for big business and the wealthy class, but terrible for most middle class Americans and the poor. We have lost hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs because of NAFTA, just as Ross Perot predicted during the presidential debates! Our trade deficit has continued to climb, partly because of NAFTA.

Because it's a two edged sword. It does provide good and bad. On one side, it helps strengthen business and creates jobs, promotes trade and can reduce prices of commodities. On the other, most of the jobs created are at the expense of jobs in the US as factories relocate to Mexico.
