I don't know if "space out" is what I would call it but there's many a day that I think back and I can't remember half of my commute ... I drive about 25 miles (35-40 min) one way to work ...

I have a long commute.. and I don't necessarily space out... but I get in deep thought at times. Long drives is depressing every day.

That's a form of self-hypnosis. Usually the result of you thinking rather intensely about something other than driving. Except when caused by extreme fatigue, booze, dope or brain damage, your brain is usually aware of what's going on and can react suprisingly fast when need be.

All the time, especially a highway I drive all the time. Lucky to still be alive actually. Im sure lots of others had near misses.

Yes, I drive a scooter, and sometimes I get from A to B without any recollection of the journey.. Yikes.. that is scary.
