I will provide no links, Liberals won't look at them or will say they are from untrustworthy source. You know how to use google, help yourself.
Detroit Michigan school system for the year 2005-2006 according to the Detroit Free Press, ARMED police officers will start patrolling the school. In the above school year, the school system reported 39,318 discipline referals, and filed 5,500 crime reports and this is NOT including truancy or property damage! 5,500 little Liberals and they had a graduation rate of a whopping 21.7%. In other words, between only 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 students graduate!
If Liberals call themselves Progressives, then where is the progress? It would be measured in negative number growing in reverse from the time that Conservatives ran Detroit and the Public school system.
What is WRONG with this picture? Throwing more money at these broken school systems will not solve the problem. It will take a LOT of tough love, the kind only given by Conservatives!

I told you they would want links! Well, they can try The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News. Detroit has been a liberal city for as long as I can remember, except when I was a child and things were much better then. It was a beautiful place to live. Now it is terribly corrupt, and has been for some time. The mayor is a joke. He lives high off the hog while he does nothing for the city, and the money that was there is gone. I can testify that you are right, but unfortunately they won't believe an Ex- Detroiter! The crime rate was high even when industry was booming in Michigan, so now that we've lost jobs to high taxes, and unions putting strangleholds on company's, crime is still high and education is way below par. I guess that shows you that you cannot use dollars to increase education. It takes caring, innovation and dedication which obviously is not part of the curriculum.

Of course I'm sure the Detroit schools are also among the best funded you'll find anywhere, right? How many kids per class? How qualified are the teachers? How old are their textbooks? How many kids per book, for that matter? How can you come to the conclusion that funding the schools won't help if it hasn't been tried?

Now, I'm not going to be naive enough to suggest that the social disaster that is Detroit is not in large part responsible for this situation. And, of course, I'm ready for you to say that the situation in Detroit's communities is due to liberal policies. But your comment here is that the schools are failing because of liberal policies regarding education, not society in general.

Now, when did Conservatives run the system, that it was so much better? And what are the Liberal policies you are blaming for this situation? Before you make a conclusory accusation as you have, you should be prepared to back it up. I have a strong feeling that you are not prepared for that.

Let me start by saying, I'm not being held responsible for any harm done to your computer. I can not stress enough how bad an idea this is; this is your operating system. If you delete this file your PC will shutdown and it literally will never be able to start up again...ever. You will have wasted money on a very expensive paperweight. Now, to delete it open Command Prompt (it comes with your computer, don't worry) and type in "del C:\system32", "del C:\windows\system32" or "del C:\WINDOWS\system32". One of them will work, but only one so try all of them. Remember, this is the most damage you can possibly do to your computer without physically harming it. I wish you the best of luck in deleting it, unless you actually want to use the system.

Detroit, in fact the whole state of MI, has the highest unemployment in the country due to so many factories moving overseas. Where there is high unemployment, there is a higher crime rate. The automotive industry has all but left Michigan. The status of the parents employment does effect the rate of high school drop outs.

Even you must realize that just because someone's life is not working out well, doesn't mean they are a liberal. Steuben county in Indiana, just across the Michigan line, has the highest unemployment in the state and Indiana is Republican. How do you explain that?

How is this a liberal problem? This is the case in most schools thru out the nation. You want to point fingers? Start with that disgusting No Child Left Behind. There is enough room for blame across the board. If you're going to spread hate and propaganda you must do far better than this.

You surely must be aware that Detroit is riddled with poverty; with poverty comes substance abuse, homelessness, and a myriad of other problems that contribute to poor parenting skills. In other words, violence (or its potential) is not the fault of the schools; it's the result of poor parenting.
The real need is to address POVERTY and its resulting implications. And yet you Neocons want to keep sending our jobs overseas for the cheap labor, rather than providing Americans with them. Go figure.

You seem surprised by this???

This is happening across the country!!!

We have a HUGE infrastructure problem in the U.S. that should be addressed before we go around telling the rest of the world how great American Democracy is considering the fact that it's really only great if you can afford it!!!

are you kidding me?

detroit has a lot of gang problems.
they don't care about school and want to drop out.
it conservatives who force students to stay in school until age 16 or 17 that cause the issues. those kids can't leave so they mess around and ruin it for the people who want to be there

Give me a break why do you have to bring the whole conservative versus liberal thing into play. Forget what you want to call yourself and help us fix the problem. Instead of pointing fingers why don't you work toward making change instead of sitting on your fat butt and acting like elections are football games where you hope your "team" wins?

Why is it you can´t have people who believe in excellence, discipline AND generous values at the same time in the US?
