Hi. Never vacuum as this can create static electricity. Once a year should be good. Get a can of compressed air just for this purpose. Clean fan filters more often if they get dirty.

The answer D - when you suspect overheating. How often should you clean the inside of your light switches, your television or your stereo system?
Dusting the inside of your computer is a silly notion unless you're a complete clean freak, you're more likely to cause damage than good. If you don't smoke around your PC or permanantly leave the side off, by the time it accumulates enough dust to cause a problem it will be so out of date it is beyond upgrading anyway.

Got pets? Computer case on a carpet?
The pet one is the worst because the computer just seems to suck up pet hair. Carpet fibers are another one but usually not as bad. Laptops on carpets can clog cooling fans too.
I usually give my computer a once over every 6 months or so. I had a cat that loved the heat from the computer and the fans sucked the hair right in. So I would clean it out once a month.
Remember to shut your computer down before vacuuming. Vacuuming can cause a static charge to build up and shock your machine so you might want to stick to blowing it out with some spray air outside.

I blow mine out about once every 6 months. I have a shop vacuum with a blower on it. Dont put it too close or the wind might be too much. Just put it close enough too blow the dust out. Cheaper than buying canned air.

E. Once every two weeks minimum. This will keep the dust/etc. from building up in the CPU and graphics card heatsinks and keep overall dust and temperature levels down.
Just use a can of compressed air as dust attracting rags/dusters are static charged and could fry a component in the case.
