If everyone likes different music why do they always play the same songs. They play only Rap and R'B. What happend to Rock? Guns n Roses, ACDC, The Used, Kiss, The Police, Nirvana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix, Slash and well you get the idea. You could play rap and RB but play other types of music too. All these songs have no meaning to them and just set a bad example to young kids. Im 16 and still like all the rock. Whos with me?

I completly agree.
I am only 13, and I like a lot of rock. Mostly the new stuff, though.

Not like fall out boy and that crappy pop punk stuff everyone thinks is rock.

You better set up a website quick. I have so many problems with the network

1). It's not 24 hours of music anymore...even if it was just news shows, concert performances, interviews with musicians, it would be good, but now we got crap reality shows that are just poison to the human

2). The quality of music has gone down. They just want to shove the worst possible hip-hop down our throats. They don't have much variety with rock either, and they've decided that all old stuff will be locked away, never to be played. That's not right. What if a 16 year old sees a video for Guns N' Roses and says HOLY CRAP, and goes to get the song?

MTV needs to kill itself and a new network that cares about music rises. Giving every genre a chance. And even bringing real talented hip-hop to the table as well instead of Soulja Boy, MIMS, and 50 Cent.

Completely agree with you... although I don't know if I've ever even heard music on MTV at all. It is simply pure reality television. And when they actually play music, it's rap music, which isn't even music. I could go to a high school cafeteria and get the same thing out of it as I do out of rap music... loud, lots of swearing, and people just, well, talking. I think that it would be better to expose teens to rock music rather than all this rap junk. They would grow up learning what music was, and not think that rap was the "cool" thing to listen to. I really agree with you on this question, even though I never watch MTV, I think it destroys your brain with all the bad music... haha, just kidding, but yeah, I agree with you.

I think MTV changed since it was debuted in 1981. The network showcases music videos and is VJs. Every genre of music video such as rap, dance or pop comes within a variety. In 2003, dance music videos have been long gone since MTV aired its last video by Dirty Vegas. Young people needed to write petitions to put dance music videos a comeback. As well are the dance artists like Ian van Dahl.

If you want to hear Sweet Child O' Mine for the umpteen-millionth time, try a radio or Youtube. I personally could care less if MTV played nothing but rock from dawn 'til dusk. I still wouldn't watch it for two reasons: Firstly, no matter what it plays, MTV is still a big profit-motivated corporation with an all-around negative influence on music, and secondly, watching TV shows about music just seems like an unnecessary step. If I want to hear music, I'll turn it on. If I want to learn about it, I'll read something.

mtv is just the new BET. all they play is hip hop and im freakin sick of it. When a new rap song comes out everyone loves it for about a month and thats all you ever here then it gets so overplayed everyone hates it. For example do ya chain hang low by jibs. everyone hates that song now. MTV neeeds to stop playing so much hip hop and let the other music genres get some air time.

Sugar I haven't watched MTV in almost 10 years. Nothing but garbage on it the last time I heard, so yes I am with you!! I say good for you for your love of rock and for your age you're a smart kid. There are MUCH better things to do than watch TV, especially that channel. Bad influence indeed.

In principle I agree with you. They don't tend to play a variety, but to be honest they play what 3 videos a day? Of course they will be the most popular songs, which right now pop charts are dominated with, well, pop, R&B, and rap.

The majority of the bands you've named don't have any recent songs out, and the ones that do don't appeal to pop music listeners, which let's face it, that's who MTV caters to.

I liked MTV better in the 80's, when they played mostly rock. If people want to see rap videos, they can watch BET. MTV should change their name, since they don't play music anymore.

I don't think you need to make the effort. MTV is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Many artists can now make it without getting their videos played on this network and it is not attracting younger viewers. My two teenage daughters don't watch it at all and none of their friends watch it either.
