Anyone out there have any clues as to why my washing machine doesn't spin anymore and how I might fix it? It runs through the rest of the programme fine, but won't spin.

Surely someone out there knows how to fix washing machines. I'm not a fool I can use tools, it won't be your fault if I blow myself up. Just point me in the right direction..please.

Most common problem is a broken coupling - easy fix, part is about $12. Check out this link, scroll down to washer won't spin or agitage. You don't have to take the shroud of the washer off, just tip it over on it's back - similar question asked earlier by someone else. It's an easy fix, I did it in about in about 15 minutes. Good Luck

It might be something as simple as a bad lid safety switch.
bypass it to see if the washer will spin. does it pump out the water but not spin..thats a coupling a cheap part located between the motor and the tranny on a direct drive. If it is a maytag and the lid switch is fine then the pump bearing is locked up in the spin and the tub is stting there with a bunch of water in it. If the direct drive model has a good coupling lookinto the pump for obstructions jamming the motor it would do nothing but hum if this was the case.I can guess better if I know the model number . I have fixed all of them and sold parts for all of them for years. Knowing what kind it is will clue me in as to what is wrong.

If your machine has gone through a complete was cycle and then just won't spin the most common cause is worn down motor brushes, assuming you have a motor with brushes, if you have an induction motor then it could be a programme problem.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

There is other problem, "electricity" if you live in 3rd world country ( as i do ) the electrical power may not be stable 220 volts. so sometimes if the electricity power is less than 220 volts..lets say 210..205...your washer will not spin ( it needs full power ) in that case your washing machine has no problem. Either you should bye power stabilization unit..or you should check every time your electricity power ( as i do ) if its 220 Volts exactly..then your washing machine will spin perfectly

The have a very good troubleshooting wizard that will help you narrow it down to the bad part. They also sell parts though they seem a bit pricey to me.
