Not a moderator, a couple need a prison guard, quite a few need the people in white coats to "assist" them on a regular basis (they definitely need their med's taken like clockwork), some need their mom and dad's to take their computer privileges away and others do need a baby sitter.

Absolutely not. This is a supposedly "free" space to discuss ideas. There will always be those who don't want to play the game by the rules, but that's par for the course. It happens everywhere in life, and we can't have big brother checking out our behaviour all the time. We have choices in here: one choice is to ignore the trolls; another choice is to keep answering them so they keep coming back. We should be able to be responsible people and if a moderator does come in here on a permanent basis, I will no longer participate. If a moderator comes in once in a while to see what's really going on, that's fine. I'm not saying this because I'm one of those "bad" posters; I'm saying this because I'm a responsible adult who has options of ignoring, blocking, reporting. Any more than that is far too fascist for me. So no, I don't think this site needs a moderator. It would be nice, however, if repeat offenders had their accounts suspended, which is what the Yahoo staff is supposed to be doing. If they can't do that, I'd hate to see what they'd do as moderators.

We have a system for reporting people who misuse Yahoo! Answers. If you introduce a moderator, you might not be able to say anything controversial. That's what happened in the old MSN chat rooms. It got to the point that certain words could not be said regardless of context.

The whole point of boards like this is to find out and perhaps learn from others points of view.

To my mind there are far too many people who block anyone who disagrees with their standpoint.

Inevitably you would get moderators who only accept answers they agree with.

A perfect example is the http://www.parentscentre.gov.uk forum.

There if you suggest that you think the family court/ss/ establishment is biased in favour of mothers your post is deleted.

What is the point. We are all able to spot the twits.

If you had a moderator, what debate would you like to stifle.

Are you only looking to get rid of the obvious insulter's or are you wanting to turn this board into a feminist views only.

If it is to get rid of the obvious insulter's then I'm all for it because there will be allot from both sides of the fence to have content removed.

At first I was going to say yes, but now I think no. I think it's important to know what the idiots think. Sometimes they can give some good insight into a cross section of people you otherwise would never know.

no - doing so would take away one more freedom in an already too "politically correct" world.

I think we have all taken a few blows here, but that is a part of this forum and it helps to make debating your beliefs that much more thought-provoking!

YES, for crying out loud! This partisanship is starting to make my stomach churn. As long as the moderator isn't an authoritarian, it would be a great idea.

Would you appreciate it if there was a moderator that politically disagreed with you? I think TRUE violations should be reported, but other than that, having ONE moderator could open up the door for Fascism.

I think all,or most, of YA needs moderators. LGBT needs them, Society and culture needs them.. Any section in which it seems like a group of people can easily be targetted, the trolls gather.
