I don't know why the other 2 answers are trying to discourage you. I'd say, try it and see if it works out for you. Wear something flattering, not necessarily bright, but something that you know you look good in. Good comfortable shoes are important too. If you don't have much experience, I'm not going to tell you "practice-practice" cause it doesn't make sense and it will be obvious anyway. Which is OK. They might be looking for aptitude, not necessarily for experience. If you show that you (a) know how to stand straight (b) know how to tell your left foot from your right foot without spending half an hour on this task (c) very interested in dancing then you are most likely have good chances. It greatly depends on other students who try out. If there is a lot of experienced dancers show up then there is nothing you can do in 2 weeks to outperform them. If on the other hand most people are just like you then you have very good chances. Typically, they will show you the steps several times and then let you practice for a few minutes and then they will ask you to dance what you learned. It might be dancing in a group (most likely) or dancing by yourself (less common). Usually, if they don't know everyone by name, they give you a number to pin on your clothes when you just come in. When you dance in a group they pick out the numbers that they like and inform you later. It really is not scary at all.

you go 2 the auditions, and usually well 2 get on my dance team we had 2 learn a couple 8 counts to their dance, then show them a dance we'd choreographed. But wear bright colors so u stand out and always try to be in the front! But if u've never danced, and u don't look good just dancing around then i wouldnt even try out. Im sure the people that think it's easy dance alot and really like it and get in2 it, dance is really fun, and u could try, but dont expect 2 make it, sry

Okay, first of all, dance is anything but easy. Dance is something that if you want to be good at, you have to have lots and lots of practive with. There are so many techniques that you have to learn about dance as well, which is most likely not able to be learned in the amount of two weeks. If I was you, I would think about this tryout, and maybe reconsider and try out next year. Trust me, it will not be easy without experience. If you still want to try out, make sure you get tons of practice, and have a friend or someone you know who has experience in dancing help you out a bit.
Good Luck!

yeah, first off, dancing is not easy, ever, if it is it isnt dancing.
second, your school will have the coach/ captains on the team teach you a dance.
if you dont make it dont sweat it, try out next year and take some classes before you tryout.

if you want to be good , you really have to take the time to work hard! this isn;t something you do just cause. it is something you do because it is important to you! things might interfere but remeber, dance is not easy no matter what your friends tell you! good luck!
