I must fit a black granite worktop tomorrow, question is what do i use to seal the joints? Black silicone? or is there a special type of sealant to use?
Thanks in advance

I have black butterfly wing granite counter tops and the largest piece has a seam. The installer mixed an epoxy resin that he said he put some granite dust in--it was black. He used it with the splash side pieces, too. The next day, it had hardened and they polished it smooth.

I had black star galaxy worktops fitted a couple of months ago & they look fantastic..... dont know what the stuff was that the contractor used on the joints but it definitely isnt silicone. It was black thickish liquid in a tin & he poured it onto the top & with a plastic 'blade' worked it into the joint & after ony a short time it hardened ....looks great..... perhaps any granite supplier will be able to tell you what it is

Certainly there are appropriate colors,,, hopefully even from a granite supplier. Silicone base is best over other types.

It sounds like the counter top must be larger than what the usual SHEET size is; that is often sold/ milled/ and stacked upright on pallets. AND likely a 90 degree or other, situation.

there is a certain way of cutting the worktops so that the joints lock into each other without showing a line, I would pay the money and get someone proffesional in.

There is nothing specific to use, clear or black if you can get it. It depends on the aestethics of it. Sillicone will adhere very well to granite and will scrape of if you make a pigs ear of it as well.
